@AYTMark , agreeing with my colleague @mesquitebean response and suggestions, I am just wondering :
(a) is this your first year filing as MFJ ( Married Filing Joint ) ?
(b) is the spouse an NRA or a US person ?
(c) If spouse a US person, is this his/her first year filing ?
While the above may throw light on why the "rejection code ", at the wend of the day , I think your only viable option is to file by mail. Hope you still have a US bank account or else any refund check will take a while to travel through the system to be cashed. You can also visit the nearest US consulate -- they often have a IRS section ( especially if there is substantial expat or military population near by ).
