Get your taxes done using TurboTax
I had recently inquired about access to the "Gross Income from All Sources Smart Worksheet" and discovered that it is accessible on a Mac when viewing Form 1116 by going to "View", then click "Show Smart Worksheets". The issue I have is that the worksheet only displays within that small box:
Gross Income form All Sources Smart Worksheet
A Calculated gross income from all sources ________
B Adjustment amount (positive to increase, negative to decrease _________
What I was hoping to see was a breakdown or itemized display of how the "A Calculated gross income from all sources" was calculated, but it only shows the total without any additional breakdown. The TurboTax note for Line 3e, gross income from all sources just says that this number "is calculated for you automatically." I'd like to see how that total was calculated in a worksheet or report of some kind, but it seems that TurboTax doesn't show that calculation anywhere.
I do see that the smart worksheet is viewable using the Mac desktop version for 2024, but that worksheet for Gross Income from All Sources doesn't show enough information. It would be most helpful if it included a breakdown of the "Calculated gross income from all sources" so that users can review. Tax preparers usually provide a worksheet breaking down and summarizing the items that are used in the calculations for Form 1116, Page 1, Line 3e Gross Income from All Sources, and it seems reasonable that TurboTax could do the same, simply showing the calculations used.
