Get your taxes done using TurboTax

That is rather disappointing.  It certainly would have been better if "the business" (Intuit) had admitted that they were abandoning 2D barcode support for the 2024 tax year months ago when the subject first came up, rather than suggesting that updated forms might be forthcoming.  It still makes little sense to me that Intuit Turbotax supported 2D barcode for the MO-1040 from TYs 2011 (and probably before) through 2023 (also years when Missouri did not mandate 2D barcoding, as it has never mandated 2D barcoding) only to suddenly abandon it for TY 2024.

Due to this in combination with other recent and ongoing TurboTax issues (listing the ones I remember below), I'm finding TurboTax insufficient and untrustworthy, and myself unfortunately needing to look elsewhere for a solution for my future tax preparation needs.  I've considered TurboTax to be an excellent tax preparation solution in the past, but I'm finding its quality and reliability to have declined significantly in the past few years.

1. Math error in an earlier release this year that only resolves by clearing and reentering interview data after updating. (New for this year!)
2. Inability of TurboTax to correctly handle the combination of an e-filed federal return in combination with a paper filed state return.  Switching to paper filing for the state return after e-filing federal strips direct deposit payment information from the federal return and issues federal filing instructions to mail payment even though direct deposit has already been arranged.  (New for this year!)
3. Entry method for W-2 Local Taxes Box 20 - Locality name has a significant potential to create a costly error.  Anything can be entered in the box, and typically the entry becomes "Kansas City," "St. Louis" or perhaps something like "KANSAS KANSAS CITY" when scanned directly from the W-2.  Although Box 20 is labeled "Locality name," only the codes "KC" and "SL" are recognized entries.  The codes are only revealed if the taxpayer clicks the question mark by Box 20, and then still doesn't make it clear that the codes are required.  Any entry other than these codes results in the Box 19 - Local income tax amount not being properly included in state and local income tax deductions. (This one has been ongoing the past 3-4 years.  Previously the entry was a simple toggle between none, KC, and SL which eliminated this potential for error.)
