Edit: I'm not sure what was going on, but I deleted the RSU transaction, started over, and selected "I found my actual cost basis" (or something like that) and it allowed me to simply enter the adjusted cost basis from the broker's transaction supplement.
Prior comment:
In your example, if the 42 shares are gone and don't enter into the calculation, why does turbotax insist on me entering an amount for that? I have the cost basis from the broker for the actual sale transaction, why does turbotax need all this extra info that isn't relevant to the capital gain calculation? It's been awhile since I dealt with RSUs but I don't remember having to do this in prior years.
