I am in the same boat because both my back up external drive (which is now mysteriously empty and not because of password protection) and my previous hard drive are gone. My MacBook Pro died in December and despite assurances, Apple destroyed my hard drive) which I would NEVER have sent in had I known.
This is a HUGE defect in Turbotax.
