Get your taxes done using TurboTax

Yes, you will need to file a return for the state the employer withheld taxes for.  If you lived in the state for part of 2024 you will file a part year residence return.  If you did not live in the state during any part of 2024 you will file a nonresident return.  For remote workers you file a return in the state you lived and work.  Not the state where the employer's headquarters are.  So if you are living in another state, you will need to file a resident return for the state you live in.  For clarification, do you still own the home your mailing address is and your temporarily staying with others?  The main thing is you will need to determine where your resident state is and file a return for that state.  If the state is different from where you had taxes withheld, you will also need to file a return for the state you had taxes withheld from.
