No one yet knows what next year's products will be like, but typically Free Edition is for very simple basic returns that only use a Form 1040 and no schedules except for Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit and student loan interest.
There are also other free products offered via the IRS website that have different requirements and may have more functionality in regards to the forms allowed.
