Get your taxes done using TurboTax

RESOLUTION:  After spending hours last year and this year with TurboTax Tech Support and just about had enough of this back and forth between TurboTax and IRS blaming each other.  So, I played around trying to locate another method of efiling our taxes without having to pay another $$$$ amount of money for an online download or another software product.  After exhausting all other efforts, started to create a new tax return from scratch in TurboTax versus transferring over the previous years data.  Once started to do this, on the personal information details, was prompted for a phone number, which was NOW REQUIRED.  Since decided to transfer a previous year's tax return, some of the phone numbers were either blank or added in some generic phone number such as 888-555-1212, which was not a valid phone number.  Once corrected in the Personal Info Summary section and added the same phone number in the 'Make Sure We Can Reach You After You E-file' section, the tax returned was able to be efiled without any issues.  Uncertain if a phone number would truly be required in the 'Make Sure...', but added just in case.  Have already received the email notification indicating my federal return as been accepted.  What a wonderful thing.... 

 

This year, able to transmit one tax return via efile, then started receiving the error message that a maximum of 5 federal returns with the same phone number.  This phone number has already been used to file 5 returns.  

 

SO..... To all of those that have been experiencing this issue without any possible clue of how to resolve, please ensure the phone number in the Personal Info Summary section is completed and accurate.  To those that are not paid taxpreparers and use more than one software on different computers, would suggest to use the phone number of the actual tax payer on the Personal Info Summary versus your own.  We file our own taxes, then assist our four children and each of our parents.  So, we do use multiple licenses, install on two different computers, but always transferred over the previous tax year data not realizing the phone number was either blank or incorrect.  Otherwise, could be in a federal tax efile loop forever!!
