Get your taxes done using TurboTax
Thanks for your reply, DawnC.
As I was going back and forth between this forum and my 1040, I saw that the error flag had been removed from the list of forms. I have two IRAs, an inherited one from my dad and my own. Turbo Tax shows three copies, one for each of them but the numbers don't agree with the 1099-R sent to me by Schwab. This is strange. Looks like Turbotax has entered the numbers I entered during the interview. The form with the data from the inherited IRA shows a "Payer's State/state no." which is different from the one listed above. The error flag is gone. So maybe Turbotax will accept this now?
The number that Turbotax inserted is: UT / 1234567 (not that numerical number, but a unique one with six digits and not 87-60005455WTH. This is all very confusing!
There was no Utah State withholding, so I'm confused as to why this is even an issue.
I can't file yet, as I'm waiting for another K-1 from a Limited Partnership that is worthless, but still filing K-1s each year, and four or five months late. Very frustrating.
I've used TurboTax for several decades and not seen this problem before. I"ve filed returns with these two 1099-Rs for over 20 years, Not seen this problem, or error message before. My dad passed away 24 years ago and I'm still being taxed on the IRA I inherited from him plus my own. At 82 years of age, I'm starting to slow down mentally.
Thanks for your help and sorry for the long message!
