Get your taxes done using TurboTax

Form 8959, Additional Medicare Tax, is required when your Medicare wages reported in Box 5 of your W2, self-employment income, and/or railroad retirement income exceeds these thresholds:

 

  • Married Filing Joint: $250,000
  • Single, Head of Household or Qualifying Surviving Spouse: $200,000
  • Married Filing Separate, $125,000
