Well, given the absolutely useless instructions in the Intuit instructions when you choose "used another tax software" (it does not give you any actual instructions that can be followed in turbotax online)...
it seems clear that if one did not use turbotax in the prior year, tubotax has no way of importing any tax data.
So stick with the tax prep you previously used, or use H&R tax software which CAN actually read other companies tax prep software files (I used TurboTax prior, then switched to H&R and it read in the past years TurboTax file no problem, and well now that I've used H&R there is no way to get back to TurboTax).
It seems clear that Intuit doesn't do any software development on its TurboTax software . Just avoid it.
