Get your taxes done using TurboTax

OMG!!!!  Now I have to do more stuff per Turbo Tax instructions. See below.

 

If this is a known issue for several months now ~ with Turbo Tax instructing all users the option to print their Returns, then why couldn't Turbo Tax include the needed statement for this IRS processing error?

This seems like a missed impacted customer service need for Turbo Tax to ensure ALL the needed & required tax return materials are provided upon printing the Turbo Tax prepared Return to the paying customer. 

Turbo Tax could have at least provided a Blank Form 5695 Statement for the user/customer to file out & attach. 

 

**Caution Everyone ~ If you print your Turbo Tax Return to mail in because of the continued IRS Rejection of the Form Joint Occupancy Issue ~ you have to create your own 5695 Statement Document to attach to your printed Turbo Tax Return forms before mailing it in! ****

 

03-29-2025 Turbo Tax instructions:

"For Form 5695, Line 32a, if the special rule for joint occupants applies, you need to attach a statement that explains how the special rule applies to your situation. This statement should include:

  1. The names and Social Security numbers of all joint occupants.
  2. A description of the property and the nature of the improvements made.
  3. An explanation of how the costs were shared among the joint occupants.

TurboTax does not automatically generate this statement, so you will need to create it yourself. Make sure to include this statement when you mail your tax return to the IRS. If you have further questions about this process, consider reaching out to a TurboTax expert for assistance."
