capital loss carryover doesn't filled in 2023
First, my capital loss carryover from 2022 is 5000 (numbers are example, not correct numbers)
In 2023 Schedule D:
Line6 Short-term capital loss carryover (5000) I forgot to fill this number
Because I still had loss on 2023, so I got 3000 in 2023 Line21 is (3000)
Here's my questions:
1. Do I need to amend 2023 to correct right numbers in Line6 , but it won't change my taxable income, because I have already got (3000) in 2023.
2. If I need to file 2023 1040x, I seems that my taxable income doesn't change, do I need to amend state tax 2023?
3. if I don't amend 2023, can I directly fill in right numbers in 2024 Schedule D Line 6
I used IRS Schedule D instructions to calculate my correct capital loss carryover from 2023
The last thing is, I used TurboTax 2023, I e-filed federal tax and paper filed state tax, so TurboTax tells me I can't e-file 1040X, which means I need to paper file 1040X, is that fair?
