The point is to avoid using a hack like filing a substitute 1099R when it is completely unnecessary and uses a method that the IRS does not want us to use.
Turbo Tax is the only program that has this limitation. TaxAct does not, HR Block does not. They allow straightforward entry of the information and have an entry form made for the purpose. I had a great experience using TaxAct this year.
Until TurboTax catches up, they have lost my business... and the longer it takes the less likely they will get it back.
