Final update - I gave up on including the AMD subtraction on my NY State tax return. I did not want to file paper. I e-filed without claiming the additional line 28. My loss. I think I would have been allowed to subtract it, if TT had allowed to process this as a (+) on the line 28 field. Frustrating but life goes on.
