Get your taxes done using TurboTax
Laura, on our married filing jointly return, we were only claiming credit for Form 5695 Part II section, Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit, with no splitting of credit amount. I did not delete the actual Form 5695 since you need that for claiming any credit. What I had noticed in TT list of forms in our return is that the original incorrect selection of checking joint occupancy box ALSO created a form in our return called Joint Occupancy (in essence a worksheet feeding Form 5695). I deleted that Joint Occupancy form from our returns list of included forms. Inputted our credit claim directly into Form 5695. That seemed to make our return accepted after that. Certainly tough to understand all the nuances of taxpayer's situations. When trying the fix our return option in TT, there was really nothing flagged as an error in TT prior to any attempts, as various folks posting on this topic in different threads noted.
