For some unknown reason TurboTax removed the running refund/taxes owed meter this year in online TurboTax, which has been frustrating for a lot of online users. It's still present in the desktop version.
To get it to appear, click the REVIEW tab in the left menu column. See if it then appears in the top left portion of the screen. If it says "Explain my taxes" at the top left, then click the arrowhead next to that and see if the meter then appears.
If it still doesn't appear at the top left, you can go through the Federal Review and at the end of the Review it should appear.
