OK I am replying to my own post with an update. After several (a lot!) of times trying to get Turbo Tax to change my status from single to head of household, I gave up, posted my comment and went to bed. This morning I opened my tax return, it did its usual update, and voila- I was Head of House Hold, my daughter's status changed to dependent and I owed $1,000s of dollars less in taxes. Since several people had this complaint, so maybe there is a software glitch that needs a reboot or update to fix itself...? I was also wondering if it was a marketing ploy to get you to get you to pay for Turbo Tax advisor ($60), since that tab seemed to pop up during all my gyrations on this?
