As of today, 3/16/2025, the RMD error is still occurring. Would this be a workaround for those of us that are having refund coming instead waiting for the TT fix ?
Here's the Scenario:
IRA #1: RMD1 =10,000 Actual Distribution =15,000 (1099)
IRA #2: RMD2 = 5,000 Actual Distribution = 3,000 (1099)
IRA #3: RMD3 = 7,000 Actual Distribution = 4,000 (1099)
So when TT ask for the RMD for each IRA, enter the 1099 amounts so that they match the actual distributions. I don't believe the IRS cares which IRA combinations the distributions comes from as long as the gross RMD is satisfied.
