Get your taxes done using TurboTax

There may be a number of reasons the total you see on your return is less than the sum of the individual entries. Some of these items are taxed differently than others and appear on different areas of your tax return. Some may not be taxable at all. The capital gains you entered may be offset by capital losses.

If you are using TurboTax Online, you can preview your return before filing to find out how your taxes were calculated. See here for details.

If you are using TurboTax Desktop, you can switch to Forms mode by clicking Forms at the top and then look at the forms and worksheets that TurboTax has prepared from your entries. You can click inside any numerical entry, right click and get the source of the entry.
