If there were contributions to your HSA account that weren't deducted from your wage income as reported in box 1 of your W-2 form, then you can add those in for the years they were made and it may entitle you to a deduction that may reduce your income tax and result in a refund. Also, if those contributions put you over the maximum contributions allowed in any year, you may owe a penalty for over contributing to your HSA account. So, it is recommended you prepare amended returns for the years involved to see if your tax changes.
