Get your taxes done using TurboTax
If your 1099-DIV dividends aren't showing up in the income and expenses summary in TurboTax, try these steps:
- Review Entries: Go to the income tab, click on 1099-DIV, and use the pencil icon to edit. Ensure all entries are correct.
- When filling out your 1099-DIV in TurboTax, make sure these boxes are not left blank:
- Box 1a: Total Ordinary Dividends
- Box 1b: Qualified Dividends
- Box 2a: Total Capital Gain Distributions
- Box 4: Federal Income Tax Withheld (if applicable)
- Box 5: Section 199A Dividends (if applicable)
- Box 6: Foreign Tax Paid (if applicable)
- Box 7: Foreign Country or U.S. Possession (if applicable)
- Box 11: Exempt-Interest Dividends (if applicable)

- Check Imports: If you imported the 1099-DIV, some data might not have transferred correctly. Double-check the imported information.
- Tax Tools: Go to Tax Tools > Tools > View Tax Summary, then click on Preview My 1040 to see if the dividends appear there.
- Tax-Exempt Dividends: Check if any dividends are from municipal bonds, as these might not show up as taxable income.
- Re-enter Data: If the issue persists, delete the 1099-DIV by clicking the trash can icon and re-enter the information manually.
