Get your taxes done using TurboTax

If you are referring to the e-file electronic signature authorization, Form 8879, you would not use that unless you have authorized a paid preparer to e-file your taxes for you.

If you are referring to signing your tax return in TurboTax prior to e-filing, you will be asked for either your prior-year adjusted gross income (AGI) or your prior-year filing PIN. Your prior-year AGI or your prior-year PIN serves as your signature on an e-filed tax return.

If you have filed your tax return through TurboTax you will receive emails regarding the status of your return. You will initially receive an email stating that your return has been submitted. ‌

You will receive a second email that will let you know that your Federal Return was accepted or rejected.  If you received this email than you can be assured that your "signature" was fine.

You will receive a third email, if you e-filed your state return as well, letting you know if your state return was accepted or rejected.

If you are using TurboTax Online you can see the status of your return by clicking on "Tax Home" in the left side of your screen.

If you used TurboTax Desktop, you will select the "File" tab in the (gray) bar across your screen and then select "Check E-File Status"

After you are informed your federal return has been accepted, you can start tracking your refund at the IRS Where's My Refund? site.
