Trying to file my tax returns, but it says there's an error with my state tax form and it leads me to a page with this message:
Information Worksheet: TP First Name - this state return is not yet ready to file. The federal return contains the following situation which requires an additional update to this state: Due to federal legislation recently passed, the allowable casualty loss claim on federal Form 4684 - Casualties and Theft Loss for major disasters has changed. We are working diligently on updating the impact on your state and will have the updates available as soon as possible.
What does this mean? Should I just wait for TurboTax to resolve the problem? How long do I need to wait? Also, why would this federal form result in an error for my state taxes?
I tried Googling law changes for Form 4684 and didn't find anything. Called customer support and I got bounced around with no one having any clue until they said I should pay $40 to speak with the experts...
