Bugs in 2024 Deluxe

  1. This was in previous versions as well: In the initial step-by-step for "You & Your Family".
    • I  indicated NO, I don't want to file this return with my spouse
    • Selected None of the above for my wife (a) will claim itemized deductions, (b) didn't live with me, and (c) was a nonresident alien,
    • Clicked None of the above for (a) spouse had no income and (b) will not file a return
    • Clicked No for someone else can claim my spouse as a dependent
    • Then, TurboTax software goes back to the beginning, and makes me go through those two pages about my spouse all over again!
  2.  After importing my 2023 return, I indicated that I won't be using the business income and expenses from last year. Yet, when I did the final check, TurboTax indicated that I failed to fill in a form based on my 2023 automobile expenses!
  3. An apparently new feature this year, regarding Form 2210 AI: TurboTax does calculations according to the Annualized Income Installment Method behind the scenes, rather than asking for my input.  It then indicates an error during the final review, because I never entered the information!  Catch-22 anyone?     I suspect that it does this calculation because I've input my quarterly estimated tax payments, which change in accordance with my irregular income.  Last year, because one incurs a penalty if they didn't pay the right amount in each Estimated pay period, TurboTax instructed me to go through this step-by-step.  Looks like another case of trying to oversimplify the process through too much automation, when more input is needed from the user.
  4. I live in a state with no state income taxes, and indicated that I don't have income from another state. Yet, after completing my Federal return, Turbotax keeps bugging me to not forget my State return!
