Get your taxes done using TurboTax
Please disregard my last message, we were able to get your token.
I compared the state sales tax in your return to the sales tax using the sales tax calculator at the IRS website. The amounts were the same. The income that you entered into the IRS website would have to be higher than the income being reported in TurboTax for the website to produce a higher deduction.
The income that's being used to calculate your tax deduction is your adjusted gross income plus your nontaxable IRA distributions. Is this the number you would expect to use, or were you using a different number on the IRS website? (If you're using TurboTax Online, click here for instructions on how to preview your 1040 to get these numbers.)
Your 2023 adjusted gross income is higher than your 2024 adjusted gross income. If your nontaxable IRA distributions were the same in 2023 as they were in 2024, your total 2023 income used for this calculation would be higher than 2024 which would explain why your 2024 deduction is lower than 2024.
