Can I claim my child as dependent
HI, Sorry for the inconvenience but I need the help of someone to correct me. My daughter received her SSN in November 2024. I can claim her as a dependent on my 2024 taxes that I have to file this year 2025.
I don't understand the IRS information when it refers to the due date. My due date of my 2024 return is April 15, 2025. It makes me understand that I can claim her as a dependent because she received her SSN Nov 2024.
IRS info - you may not claim your child as a qualifying child for the EIC on either your original or an amended return if your child doesn't have an SSN on or before the due date of your return (including extensions), even if your child later gets an SSN.
My second question. Can I file Jointly my 2024 since we were married the entire year. My wife got her SSN in January 2025. I know some please us 9999999 if do not have SSN.
Thank You
