Get your taxes done using TurboTax
You should have received a Form W-2G from the casino that would report both your winnings and the taxes that were withheld. If you did not receive a Form W-2G, you can still report the gambling winnings and the withholding amount. The steps are listed below.
If you did receive a Form W-2G, use the following steps to enter your information:
- On the top row of the TurboTax online screen, click on Search (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax locate the search box in the upper right corner)
- This opens a box where you can type in “gambling winnings on w-2g” (be sure to enter exactly as shown here) and click the magnifying glass (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax, click Find)
- The search results will give you an option to “Jump to gambling winnings on w-2g”
- Click on the blue “Jump to gambling winnings on w-2g” link and enter your information
If you did not receive a Form W-2G, use the following steps to enter your information:

- This opens a box where you can type in “gambling income not on w-2g” (be sure to enter exactly as shown here) and click the magnifying glass (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax, click Find)
- The search results will give you an option to “Jump to gambling income not on w-2g”
- Click on the blue “Jump to gambling income not on w-2g” link and enter your information
Then, use these steps to enter the taxes that were withheld:
- Go to the Deductions and Credits section of your return
- Scroll to the Estimates and Other Taxes Paid section
- Click Start or Update beside Other Income Taxes
- Scroll to Other Income Taxes Paid in 2017
- Click Start or Update beside Withholding not already entered on a W-2 or 1099 and enter your information
