Hi - I had a similar problem, where Schedule A was about $100 more than the state taxes withheld. Based on your answer with a problem in box 14 on a W-2 - I relooked at my W-2 and 1099 forms. On one I had a $99 fee in the box 14 - for another type of fee that was withheld. I had to delete it in order for line 5a to be correct. Even though TurboTax picked up just the right amounts for state taxes on my state return. So frustrating! I'm now concerned that by deleting that amount in that box, that it won't match exactly to what IRS and the state have for that W-2 - if the efile sends along the W-2, 1099 information. Not sure if more goes in the filing than just the returns? TurboTax clearly has a problem with that Schedule A line and should get it fixed!
