A VLF refund in California is based on the remaining months of your vehicle's registration. You can request a refund by completing an Application for Vehicle License Refund (REG 65) form.
- You may be eligible for a refund if your vehicle is a total loss due to theft, a wreck, or other damage
- You may be eligible for a refund if you are a nonresident military owner
