Maybe you qualify for the credit, and that is why TurboTax is calculating it. The Marriage Credit amount you receive is based on your income, with the maximum credit being $501 for 2024. To qualify for credit, you must meet all of the following requirements:
- You are married and filing a joint return
- You and your spouse have taxable earned income, taxable pensions, or taxable Social Security income
- Your joint taxable income is at least $47,000
- The income of the lesser-earning spouse is at least $30,000
