My roommate and I both got a CRP but they paid all the rent, we're both on the lease.
I am preparing to file my 2024 taxes in Minnesota and both my roommate and I received a CRP (certificate of rent paid).
I have lived with my partner in our apartment for over a year and we are both on the lease. This year, my partner is the one who paid for the entirety our rent each month, allowing me to live with them for free. We both got a CRP for 2024 showing that rent was split 50/50, but as stated above this is inaccurate. When I file, am I supposed to claim the tax credit for renters in MN even if I did not technically pay any rent? Or is my partner supposed to add both of the CRP's to their taxes? What do I do?
