Get your taxes done using TurboTax

Since you only have a 1099, you are likely considered self-employed or an independent contractor. Here’s how you can proceed with TurboTax:

 

Filing Status

  • 2024 Tax Year: If your spouse passed in 2024You can still file jointly for 2024.
  • 2025 and Beyond: You can file as Single or Qualifying Widow(er) if you meet the requirements. Learn more about Qualifying Widow(er) status.

Using TurboTax Self-Employed

Steps to Enter 1099 Income in TurboTax

  1. Log in to TurboTax: Open TurboTax and sign in to your account.
  2. Start Your Return: Begin a new tax return or continue an existing one.
  3. Enter Income Information:
    • Search for 1099: Use the search bar at the top and type "1099."
    • Jump to 1099: Select "Jump to 1099" from the dropdown list.
    • Enter 1099 Details: Follow the prompts to enter the information from your 1099 form.
