I had something similar happen yesterday on TTax Business 2024. It said "Something went wrong - check your internet connection" (not an exact quote). I just ignored it and it worked fine. Today when I opened it through the saved file (clicking in the file instead of the program icon), it shut down after updating. The link that says open.., or continue using... was missing I had to open it through the icon to make it work.
