Get your taxes done using TurboTax
@MarilynG1 , thank you for your suggestions, but I don't think they fully address the issue.
Mutiple users on this thread did work with TT Tech Support to no avail. This is clearly a bug that affects many users. And TT Tech Support does not have "the" answer. After discussing the issue with TT Support, these users were still unable to use the desktop TT as advertised.
Also, the suggestion to download the forms into Online TT and then copy to Desktop TT is disingenuous. From what I see you can only transfer the complete TT Tax file from online to desktop. There does not seem to be a way to then copy the downloaded 1099 information from the downloaded [formerly online] TT file to the existing desktop TT file. If there is a way to move the downloaded forms from one .tax2024 file to another, please let us know. Otherwise, your suggestion only works if the first thing you do is to use Online TT to import the data, then download the tax2024 file to the desktop, and then continue on the desktop to enter all of the other required information. For most of us, we already have a robust desktop tax2024 file with a large volume of information already entered before we attempt to import 1099 forms. If we cannot transfer that imported data to the existing desktop tax 2024 TT file, we would be forced to re-enter all the work we had already done on the desktop. That is not a reasonable solution, in my opinion.
And finally, I am not sure how using a new computer, with a new name, and a new Microsoft account is a reasonable workaround for a clear bug in desktop TT software.
I believe TT has some work to do to make this function work.
