Thanks for the info. Let me recap to make sure I have this correct. The process for us should be:
1. I fill out and e-file my federal return as Single
2. My partner fills out and e-files their federal return as Single.
For the 3rd federal return we need to prepare (this "as-if" one), is there a specific field for "as-if" we can select in TurboTax Deluxe or do we just select "Married"?
Also, once this 3rd federal return is prepared, do we e-file it as well? Or do we need to just print it out and attach it to our State returns? I've heard that because of being in an RDP, we have to mail in our State returns and attach this third federal "as-if" return to it. Is this correct?
