Get your taxes done using TurboTax
Form 8863 calculates an Education Credit
Form 8880 calculates "The Saver's Credit"
Both/either credits can cause an up-charge.
Form 8862 asks for a credit that has previously been denied/disallowed to be allowed
You can't get both an education credit and Saver's Credits because a student can't get the Saver's Credit
If you were disallowed a credit in the past and now wish the IRS to reconsider and allow the credit, you need Form 8862
It would be a shame to lose any credits you're eligible for if it lowers your tax liability, however you can delete those forms if that's what you want to do.
