Usually the name control that the IRS usually will match a SSN to is the first four letters of your last name. If the first four letters of your last name match, your w2 will be processed. If not, you will need to get a corrected W2 from the employer.
If you filed as a US citizen or Resident Alien in 2023 and filed with Turbo Tax, you can amend your 2023 return by doing this.
To amend your return using Turbo Tax Online.
- Log into Turbo Tax
- Select Scroll down Your tax returns & documents in your landing page. Select Amend (change) 2023 return.
- Go through the preliminary steps and once you are in the return, you can add your W2.
