it is exactly the same as having the CD! The CD is in my possession. BTW you can buy a CD reader it is not expensive and use it for other purposes, too. Like CD's I have! If there is a problem with turbo tax or your computer or you get a new computer .... to bad the download version is downloaded only once and you are done! SO NO IT IS NOT THE SAME!!!!!!!!!!!
