Get your taxes done using TurboTax
You import tax data from your Ameriprise Financial tax statements into a TurboTax tax preparation software or online product tax return.
Visit the TurboTax website for additional help purchasing and installing the software or getting started in TurboTax. Be sure to download any recent updates to the program, if prompted.
Once you have installed the TurboTax software or purchased the online version, follow the steps below to import your tax form data.
1. You can access a copy of your tax documents on the secure site on ameriprise.com* to reference as you work on your tax return. Register or log in.
- Click "Documents"
- Select the Tax Documents folder.
- Select the tax document from the list provided
*Some annuity tax documents are only available on riversource.com. Log in.
2. Start your tax return in the most current desktop or online version of TurboTax filing software. Be sure to download updates to the program, if prompted.
- Create/Sign into TurboTax
- Once started, navigate to the Federal > Wages & Income area, click the “Visit” button to sections for each type of income you received. Sections of interest will be:
- “Investments and Savings” for 1099-INT, 1099-DIV and 1099-B
- “Other Common Income” for 1099-MISC
- “Less Common Investments and Savings” for 1099-OID
- “Retirement Plans and Social Security” for 1099-R
- At the “Let’s import your tax info” page
- In the box, begin typing Ameriprise Financial
- Once Ameriprise Financial populates in the drop-down area, click on Ameriprise Financial
- Enter your Package ID and Document ID from the first page of your Ameriprise tax package(s). Note: Your login credentials change every year so be sure to use your 2024 tax package(s).
- Enter your Package ID and Document ID into the fields below:
- Package ID: Enter without spaces; not case sensitive.
- Document ID: Enter without spaces; not case sensitive.
- Verify the data imported into your TurboTax return matches the data on the tax forms in your Ameriprise tax package(s).
- Note: The amounts in the import will be rounded up to the nearest whole dollar amount without any decimals, per IRS guidelines.
3. Confirm all forms you expected were imported and verify the data imported into your TurboTax return matches the data on the tax forms in your Ameriprise tax package(s) before moving to the next step in the TurboTax tax preparation process.
