The IRS doesn't have a specific disability designation for diabetes, but it does offer various tax benefits for people with significant medical expenses. You can deduct many costs for diabetes that are related to finding, tracking, and treating the condition. However, you need to itemize your deductions, and your medical expenses must exceed 7.5% of your Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) to be deductible.
