Return received means the IRS has your return and is processing it. TurboTax will also send you messages if something goes wrong after you file your return or when your e-file status changes.
The IRS will process your return and it will be accepted or rejected. You can see this status on your tax home screen in TurboTax.
After your return is accepted by the IRS the tracking of your actual refund falls with the IRS.
You can use this IRS tool Where's My Refund? to check on the status of your refund. It provides updates regarding the processing of your tax return.
If your return is complete and accurate, your refund should typically be issued in about three weeks or less, but some returns take longer to approve. (Filing season has just started, so the processing time may vary.
