As DoninGA states, you can not claim the tax credit. The leasing company will get the tax credit for the EV.
Some leasing companies (they aren't required to do so) will pass that savings on to the lessee in the form of lower lease payments or the amount of the tax credit is deducted from the price at the time of the lease. It sounds like that is what happened in your situation.
