Get your taxes done using TurboTax

Employer contributions should be reported in Box 12 with code W.

If your employer's $400 HSA contribution is missing from Box 12 with code W on your W-2, here’s what you can do:

  • Verify with Your Employer: Contact your HR/Payroll department to confirm the $400 contribution and request a corrected W-2.
  • If your employer's HSA contributions weren’t included in Box 12 of your W-2, you can report them in TurboTax Online (TTO) as follows:
  1. Use the search bar in TurboTax and type "HSA."
  2. Select the "Jump to" link that appears.
  3. On the screen "Did your employer tell you about any other contributions? - Select the option for employer contributions not reported in Box 12 of your W-2
  4. Enter the contribution amount from your employer.

This process ensures the $400 is correctly reported and included on HSA reporting Form 8889
