Get your taxes done using TurboTax
Wow, thank you for your response. Yes, I have experienced the difference between online and download programs. Last year, I did the online version, but then discovered that I had to file an amended return to add some K-1 filings. I couldn’t get the info needed, but Intuit kindly sent me the download version so that I could retrieve the data and complete the 1040X form.
The Fidelity version is an agreement between them and Intuit to offer a greatly discounted version, but resetting the online version blew away the necessary license that allowed free filing.
I will probably have to move my TurboTax data onto my local machine and access it that way, but I REALLY HATE messing with pulling high risk data off that secure environment.
I put a call into Intuit, but they managed to drop me after putting me on hold, and they didn’t call me back.
Over the last 20 years, Intuit has become both more security subconscious (disallowing password manager copy/paste) and customer service brilliant (letting me use the download version free with the problem mentioned above). I guess I will keep using them until a) they do something criminally negligent, or b) the US gets its head out of the sand and simplifies the tax code.
