Get your taxes done using TurboTax
Thank you for that information. I have a laptop that will be useless in a couple of years. I have always used my CD to pull the program onto my new laptop. I also prepare taxes for my parents and a sibling along with a trust for another parent. The parents moved into a smaller home... the program did not correctly pull up the change of location in my state. It cost me $3,200 plus to correct the refund issue that turbo tax did not cover. (I covered the deficit with my parents and paid the penalties & interest.) My sibling is somewhat middle class. I help her to complete her return. There have been no issues as yet with her returns. The other parent issue was a trust that was left to survivors. I couldn't get the trust program to pull up K1's to each of the siblings for federal or state. I went to another tax program that was able to cover that both federal & state. They also gave me a downloaded app that I can backup. I used to depend on Turbo Tax, especially when it had a CD that I could pull up onto my new laptop. (I backup my information & the tax program but the backup DOES NOT backup when I try to access it separately.) I have been deeply disappointed by it as a program for at least 3 years. I am actively looking for alternatives as I DO NOT want to reenter information for the last 15 years, but I am willing to do that considering the alternative. You probably classify me as a tax preparer, but I am not. I have two family groups and a family trust along with my personal return to complete. As I have said, I am looking for alternatives that do not require me to take all my waking moments with taxes from December 31 to April 15.
