Get your taxes done using TurboTax

I posted previously concerning the failed endless loop activation login using Windows 10 Pro 64 bit Premier version purchased from Amazon.  I am on Starlink internet but doubt that is the problem. I also doubt this is an Amazon only problem as on the web I found many posts reporting same problem when purchased elsewhere including Costco.  IMO (being very paranoid due to previous severe privacy breaches by these types of companies providing sw) this problem is because TT is trying to force people to use online version only where they capture and use/sell all your data (consistent I think with IMO invalid excuse for not providing a CD anymore for installation--yes many new computers don't have built in drives but everyone I know has at least one or even two usually HD capable disc drives connected to their computers).

I did stumble/bumble my way into getting this Premier software to activate for Windows 10 Pro 64 bit after I tried every single other suggestion on TT and the web.  I had from the first try been running as administrator which did nothing.  Neither did turning off firewall, security, vpn (NOT RECOMMENDED by me---if you do this then make sure to first do a create restore point and after run a scan of your system).  Tried many other suggestions also.  I am NOT an IT or cybersecurity expert, so what finally worked for me may or may not work for you and may or may not be a security risk.

Suggest strongly you leave on all your security protections including vpn if you decide in desperation to try what worked for me.  Also strongly suggest you first create a restore point.

I went to Windows c drive folder where tt program was downloaded, clicked on turbotax folder and right clicked for properties.  I saw I was indeed running as administrator with full control as well as me as user having full control so this obviously was not the problem.  Under general tab, I unclicked read only.  Under security tab, I gave each of the 7 multiple options (if not already done) from all application packages ... to trusted installer full control.  Clicked ok, rebooted my computer, and found one of those steps made it work to take activation code and was able to launch TT and update sw.

Hope this works for someone else.  I found help from TT and MS (yes I tried there also) to be practically non existent/completely incompetent.  It is very hard for me to believe these companies like TT and MS with all their computer experts don't seem to have any idea how to solve a basic problem preventing people from even activating their products.

Good luck!
