Get your taxes done using TurboTax
When I checked on my amended tax return this morning I learned it was finally 'completed'.
Under 'completed' it states the following:
We processed your amended return on May 17, 2024. The adjustment on your account resulted in a refund. You should have received your refund and/or a notice if your refund was adjusted to cover past due obligations.
The above IRS statement uses a past-tense phrase (should have) which I find rather odd being that my amended return was completed just yesterday (May 17). So, since my refund is not used to cover past due obligations the phrase 'should have' can't possibly apply to me.
Moving through the 'competed' IRS statement language - - Since I have already received a $452 refund check a few weeks ago for overpaying interest income - I can only assume the above noted (bolded) IRS statement dated yesterday (May 17) is that this statement is telling me that I have another refund coming - which I presume and hope is the $661 for using my Capital Loss carryover that I failed to use when I filed my original tax return.
I presume this adjustment and 'completed' indicator is for the $661 refund I requested for the Loss Carryover adjustment. I guess I'll find out soon - hopefully by receiving a second refund check in the mail for $661.
