My family babysits my child and claimed them on taxes without my consent. What can I do ?
My family babysits my child, and stays the night there a lot since I work a lot. They claimed the child on their taxes this year without my consent. What can I do ?
Ive read the IRS Tie-Breaker laws, and saw that they first ask If someone is the childs parent. I am the parent, and the people claiming the child are his great aunt and uncle. It seems like it shouldnt be a problem for me to claim the child, and have the IRS contact the other people. However, I dont want to have to go through a audit, or court trial and cost more than Ill gain from the tax credit.
