Do meals alone always have to include an overnight trip to be deductible?
I am a self-employed tradesman. The vast majority of my work is done portably, with my service truck. I am often called from one job to another, and often an hour or more away. If I stop between jobs to grab a bite to eat and take a much-needed rest break before going on to the next job, am I able to claim the meal (at the 50% rate) even if I don't meet a client or stay overnight?
